12 former SEC players on MLB Championship Series rosters

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Oct. 16, 2023)----- A total of 12 players formerly from SEC schools were named to active rosters for the American League and National League Championship Series.

LSU and Mississippi State lead the way with three former players on 26-man rosters, while South Carolina has two. Seven SEC schools are represented on Championship Series rosters.

The Texas Rangers have six players from SEC schools on their roster, while the Houston Astros have four. The Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks have one.

A total of 30 players formerly from SEC schools have been on active rosters of teams in the first three rounds of the playoffs.

The ALCS began Sunday, while the NLCS is scheduled to begin Monday. Game one of the World Series is slated for Oct. 27.
